What's a pet friendly way to keep ants off the food mat?
The question pretty much says.

I used ant traps - I can't remember the brand, i think it was Raid? It was little plastic things that you put on the floor, it has a daisy flower pattern on the top, and the ants go in to get food to bring back home and they die there. Watch if you have dogs though, the traps smell like peanut butter.

They sell food dishes at petsmart that are designed to keep bugs out of it.Baking soda. Put it everywhere you see ants. It'll get rid of them, but is harmless to humans and pets. (It really works - I've used it more than once!) :)Sprinkle the floor with a small of equal, or any other sugar substitute. A friend of mine runs an ant killing business and this is what he uses. Equal, sugarine etc are highly toxic. A small amount from an equal sachet is enough to kill a small pet mouse within 12 hours.ChaulkChalk keeps ants at bay.

Create a Personalized Pet Food Mat

Keep those runaway bits of kibble and spilled water contained with a placemat made for your furriest family member. Start out with a canvas placemat. Apply a coat of latex paint over the entire surface and let dry. Now you're ready for your artwork. Try something simple, like a paw print, or write out your pets name in a nice script. Once you're done seal it with a mat varnish. Now your four-legged companion is ready to dine with style.
