Pet Locator?
I'm looking for a device to Locate my pet from time to time. I don't want a GPS tracker, just something like an RF transmiter and reciever that will point me in the right direction. It's for a cat so it has to be somewhat light.
My vet said something about a GPS tracker that they inject into their back. It's like if your cat got lost, then a shelter picked it up, they scan its back to find out its info...
Ask your vet..i guess you will to get your cat a walkie talkie or a pager lol.......Look more into it and you will find that there is device that works with Garmin Radios. It tracks something with a handheld off a frequency. So if you have the collar on the animal you can track them with a person RINO 120 or something simular. You might want to talk to a vet and see what kind of systems they may have available. There is a very small microchip(like the size of rice) that can be put into your pets back to find them if they are missing. They insert the microship between the shoulder blades and your pet does not feel anything because they give it anesthesia. Then if your pet is lost they scan its back and your address shows up so they can return your pet home safely!
Talk to your vet about getting one.

The New SpotLite GPS Pet Locator The Budget Version of a Classic
Article by Chris Newton and Lewis Sheats
GPS Pet Trackers have been gaining popularity in leaps and bounds over the past few years. People have recognized the value of applying the technology of satellite positioning systems to a variety of uses. From automobiles and telecommunications to tracking and locating, GPS has gradually become the new watchword in security as well. Securus - a company committed to applying GPS-enabled solutions to the safety and security market, launched the SpotLight GPS Pet Locator in partnership with the American Kennel Club Companion Animal Recovery (AKC CAR) some time back. The product immediately fulfilled a need in the pet market as a reliable and cost-effective means of tracking and locating a missing pet. As a sturdy, water-resistant, lightweight device, the SpotLight GPS Pet Locator could be attached to a dog's collar. Equipped with a removable and rechargeable battery and an LED beacon, the SpotLight was a runaway hit with pet owners across the country.
Recently, the company has launched another version of the classic SpotLight GPS Pet Locator. Called the SpotLITE, it is offered as a budget version of the original. Priced at a pocket-friendly 9.99, the new SpotLITE has exactly the same functionality as the SpotLight GPS Pet Locator apart from not having an LED beacon and a removable battery. Measuring 66mmx36mmx20mm, the SpotLITE retains the durability and compact nature of its older counterpart. It comes with a pouch that you attach to your dog's collar. While the battery of this device may not be removable, it is still a rechargeable, long life battery that will alert you with a signal when it is running low. You can set the level (20 or 30% for example) and when the battery capacity reaches that level, SpotLite will alert you by text or email as requested.
Using Assisted Global Positioning System (A-GPS) technology, SpotLITE offers the optimum in tracking ability even under adverse satellite conditions through the use of the Internet and wireless networks. This allows devices such as the SpotLITE to detect a position in a much faster time frame as well. Once your missing pet has been located, SpotLITE will then inform you of his exact whereabouts through the medium of your choice i.e. text, email, or by phone. It will provide you with step-by-step directions on how to reach your pet so that you don't lose time in locating him. In addition to this, SpotLITE allows you to access your pet's location around the clock, on to a map so that you are assured of his safety at all times.
When you purchase the SpotLITE GPS Pet Locator your pet will be provided with a unique AKC CAR tag and ID number. This also offers you round the clock access to their helpline if your pet goes missing. Support staff on call will then talk you through the process of locating your missing pet. An invaluable service provided to pet owners when their beloved pet goes missing!
