how often should I clean my pet rats hammock in their cage?
They sleep on it all the time and they also pee on it. How often should I clean and how should it be done so that it doesn't cause any harm to them?
The problem is that there is metal clips on each side (so 4 clips) that I can't remove. Does it matter what soap I would use to clean it as well?
Pet rats are actually very clean animals and love clean bedding. I change my rat bedding everyday. I think the hammock should be cleaned every few days and can be thrown in the washer if it is fabric. Not only do the linens start to smell after a day or two, when they pee on them, but changing out their bedding keeps them from getting infections, infestation of mites and makes them happy all around.Let your nose be your guide in this case. Our rats' hammocks get changed when the cages are cleaned. We'd been using the premade hammocks with clips & they go through the wash just fine, but now we buy fleece by the yard when it's on sale, which costs much less (our girls tend to destroy their hammocks fairly quickly).
Use a mild laundry soap withour bleach or other irritants. Something hypo-allergenic or suitable for babies is perfect. We use those spiky plastic dryer balls instead of fabric softener for our rats' "laundry" to avoid exposing them to chemicals.

Dog Hammock Lets You Pamper Your Best Friend And Pet
Article by Ann Marier
Dogs are known to be man's best friends and that is because they love their owner unconditionally, are loyal and always there with a happy bark and wagging his or her tail when you get home. Most dog owners get very close to their pet and ensure that they provide him or her with the best possible care, love and comfort. Well, now you can truly provide the best possible sleep for your pet with a dog hammock.
Different Types Of Dog Hammocks
There are many different types of dog hammocks to match the large variety of dog available so, the first thing you need to look for in a hammock for your dog is the size and also the weight that it will sustain; there is a huge difference between Yorkshire terrier and cocker spaniel for example and that must be reflected in the dog hammock if you want to buy the best suitable type for your best friend.
The next thing to consider when shopping for dog hammocks is the space where you will be setting it; you will require sustaining setting for the hammock if you don't purchase one that already has them inbuilt. The great part about any type of hammock whether they are for humans for pets is that you can move them where you like for example, if it is summer and you want to spend the afternoon in the garden in your hammock all you need to do is move it there along with your dog's hammock and you have yourselves a comfortable and relaxing setting for the day.
Like the hammocks made for humans you will find that there are also many materials and color to choose from for your dog's hammock but the material from which they are made may not differ vastly, as it is required to be extremely durable and waterproof as well as easy to clean in case your pet decides to soil it with food or dirty paws.
Let Your Pet Know How Much He Or She Means To You
You will find that your dog will love his her hammock because it will provide the same benefits it does to you and even if pets don't have much stress to deal with other then worrying when is the next meal or when they will go out to play again, your pet will be rejuvenated and refreshed every time he or she uses it and more importantly he or she will be grateful to you for the hammock.
A note of warning is that dogs may find the hammock's material very suitable to chew on and thus, damage it therefore initially you will have to watch and train your pet.
